 Ideas for Activities

• The class could visit a cemetery, a war memorial, or a nearby memorial site. Important: Discuss beforehand how to behave: How should you act at a place of remembrance? What can names, dates, symbols, or flowers tell us?
• In small groups, children could look for signs like these and write down what they observe. They must not enter any graves or touch or change anything. The children should behave with the utmost respect.
• Afterwards, the class should gather in a suitable place and think about what we can do today to promote peace and get along well with one another.
• Back at school, each child makes a small peace card with a wish, for example: “Arguments should be resolved without violence.” The cards are put together to make a peace wall.
